Ya know, I am not a purist. For me, I am such an all around player that I could not exclude any one genre let alone a relative of the low end. I love upright, probably the instrument that resonates with me the most. I can express emotion very easily on the double bass. It has always come a little bit easier to me than other instruments. I also only study on the double bass – intentionally. I get so much work for the bass that I am constantly bouncing between Electric 4string and Upright. The people that hire me like it and so do I(except hauling that much gear around in a tiny Honda Civic). So I have been reflecting on what I have learned on the electric and I feel it is worth sharing. Welcoming it in to it’s bigger brother’s blog. I feel like this is just going to be an all around bass blog and so there need not be any exclusion. I know that I am deeply inspired by both. I hope y’all feel the same.
